The MURV-100-S maintains all of the outstanding features of the standard MURV-100, with the added capacity to deploy and monitor sensors for the deadly agents used in Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).

The need for effective technology to combat catastrophic terrorism continues to increase rapidly.  As a result, there has been much progress made in the development of sophisticated hand-held sensing instruments that detect and analyze nuclear, biological, and chemical agents.  However, the traditional method of delivering these sensors into a possibly contaminated area still involves using a technician in a biochem suit obtaining the sensor data in proximity to the danger.

WMD Sensors and Our Robots

HDE's MURV-100-S offers a solution to the problem of putting a human technician at serious risk.  Using our field proven radio controlled robots to carry these sensors into the location of the suspect agent virtually eliminates any risk for the technician.

HDE has developed a set of sensor interface modules (SIM's) to interface specific sensor instruments.  The SIM's provide the means to hold the sensor securely, 'see' the instrument's display with a video camera, to provide electrical power, and to remotely operate any required sensor controls.   The SIM permits the operator, located at a safe location, to gather all the sensor information just as if he were actually located in the area of the suspect agent.

The Microsensor System Minicad MKII  will detect blister/nerve agents:  Tabun, Sarin, Soman, Mustard, DMMP.  It has an RS232C serial port.

The Draeger Multiwarn is a small gas-measuring instrument.   It displays the concentration of several customer-selected gases.  It provides for adjustable alarm settings and range limits.

The Sensor Technology Engineering, Inc. Radiation Pager-S is a small, self-contained gamma-ray detector for use in the interdiction and location of nuclear materials.

SIM's can be adapted for any of the other commercially available sensors and provisions can be made for newly developed technologies.

Transmit data to Customer's Computer

Some of these detectors also contain means for connecting to the serial port of a computer system to provide a detailed analysis of the suspect agent.   The SIM's can be equipped with a radio system that can transmit this data to a companion radio receiver connected to the operator's computer at the safe location.   Audible warning sounds from the sensor are also transmitted to the operator's location.
